West Wales Women & Girls League

We believe that grassroots sports can transform young people’s lives. Allowing them to be part of a team and providing more opportunities to grow as a community has the potential to inspire and unite future generations.

When the opportunity arose to support the West Wales Women & Girls League (WWWGL), now the Perago West Wales Women & Girls League, we didn’t just want to sponsor—we wanted to make an impact. Our vision was simple: to create a brand and a digital presence that would ignite passion for women’s football in West Wales, inspire a new generation of players, and elevate the league to new heights.

The challenge: to better represent the league

Like many grassroots football leagues, the Perago West Wales Women & Girls League has a rich history of passion and community involvement. But in terms of visibility, it needed a fresh identity—one that captured the spirit of the league without relying on tired symbols like dragons or daffodils. Our challenge was to create something distinct, modern, and dynamic that would represent the league and resonate with the diverse and talented women and girls playing in it.

The mission: attracting more women and girls to football

The mission behind the Perago WWWGL is simple: make competitive football accessible and attractive to women and girls in West Wales. The league’s goal is to break down barriers, making it easier for young girls—particularly those between the ages of 7 and 15—to get involved in the sport.

But they also have a bigger mission: changing perceptions of women’s football and showing it as exciting, valuable, and deserving of attention as its male counterpart.

When the Perago WWWGL team shared their vision with us, we instantly became eager to help.  Our first step was to ensure that we weren’t just creating a new logo—we wanted to develop a brand to help grow the league, inspire players, and attract fans and support.

The approach: design, discovery, and collaboration

Our approach began with research and discovery. We spent time with the team behind the league, listening to their insights and understanding their needs. What emerged was a clear understanding of which direction the league wanted to grow and the rich history it had been built on. We soon realised that our brief was to develop something authentic to the community and reflective of the league’s aspirations.

We worked closely with league organisers to explore their values, vision, and the area’s unique attributes. From there, we conceptualised a visual identity that was both bold and approachable. Rather than leaning into typical football imagery, we wanted to reflect the diverse geography and culture of West Wales, while keeping the design energetic and appealing to a younger audience.

The result was a refreshed brand identity that positioned the Perago WWWGL as a league focused on competition, community, inclusion, and growth. The new logo, colour palette, and typography were designed to be dynamic and instantly recognisable, helping the league stand out in a crowded sporting landscape.

The results: a brand that speaks for itself

The feedback we received from the West Wales Women & Girls League has been overwhelmingly positive. Helena Goatley, the league secretary, expressed the collective excitement about the new brand:

“We can’t thank Perago enough for all the work and support on this project. We can’t emphasise how important it is to get sponsorship at a grassroots level. It was also great to be part of the creative process, and we are delighted with the outcome and vision for the new brand.”

But it’s not just about the design—it’s about the bigger picture. The new brand has already begun to change perceptions. By making the league more accessible, professional, and visible, we are helping to pave the way for future growth and success. More girls and women can now find the resources they need to join the league, and the buzz around the sport continues to grow. We’re proud to be part of that journey.

Next steps: a new digital home for the league

Alongside the rebranding, we’re also developing a new website that will serve as the league’s digital hub. The goal is to make it easy for players and fans to access information, register their teams, and stay up to date on league news and events. A sleek, user-friendly interface will ensure the site is accessible to everyone, from parents looking to sign up new players to keeping track of fixtures and results.

Working with the Perago WWWGL to rebrand and position the league for the future has been a rewarding experience. We look forward to seeing the website go live and to see the positive impact on women’s football in West Wales for years to come.
